A novel multiresolution analysis-based stereo matching method using curvelets, support weights, and disparity calibration is proposed. By introducing curvelet decomposition, we obtain the curvelet coefficients in different scales and orientations, and the image points can be better described and represented by these coefficients. By using support weights, the fattening effect suffered by previous methods is reduced. As a result, false matches are reduced greatly and overall accuracy is increased. Disparity calibration smoothes the disparity map and removes the remaining outliers to further improve accuracy. The proposed method is verified and compared extensively with state of the art methods, and good results and improvements are achieved. © 2010 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching
In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...

In this paper an effective, hardware oriented stereo correspondence algorithm, able to produce dense disparity maps of improved fidelity is presented. The proposed algorithm combines rapid execution, simple and straightforward structure as well as comparably high quality of results. These features render it as an ideal candidate for hardware implementation and for real-time applications. The pr...

متن کاملStereo matching based on nonlinear diffusion with disparity-dependent support weights
In stereo matching, computing matching cost or similarity between pixels across different images is one of the main steps to get reliable results. More accurate and robust matching cost can be obtained by aggregating per-pixel raw matching cost within the predefined support area. Here, it is very important to aggregate only valid supports from neighbouring pixels. However, unfortunately, it is ...
متن کاملDepth Estimation Through a Disparity-Based Photometric Stereo
Abstract. Here we revisit a recently introduced process of relative depth estimation through the matching of photometric stereo images. By considering the general solution of the differential equation which relates surface depth to the disparity map produced by the matching process, we are able to obtain a more consistent formulation of such disparity-based approach to photometric stereo. Also,...
